Project Overview

Successfully installed 11 high-mast lighting systems, including 25m and 16m Valmont towers with CREE LED flood lights (420W, 523W) and AV lite twin aircraft obstruction lights at Tribhuvan International Airport, which handles 7.32 million annual passenger movements and 124,255 flights. The project was executed through four packages (A, B, C, D) covering international and domestic apron areas without disrupting daily airport operations. Package A involved 2 high-masts at the domestic apron near the VVIP lounge. Package B included helipad installation, Package C added LED flood lights at bays 5, 6, and 7, and Package D covered cargo parking and airside areas. The main challenge was working at Nepal's busiest airport whilst maintaining continuous operations, requiring careful coordination between day and night shifts. Power supply is managed from the P zero parking station with separate MCC bands for each mast and individual MCB protection. The installation now provides complete illumination for taxiing planes and apron areas, with CREE flood lights controlled by the Air Traffic Control tower and timer systems for domestic operations.
